UX Lead

Job description

We are looking for a Senior UXer to lead this function of our growing company. You will review and refine current UX systems and processes and champion the user experience within the broader product team, working alongside a Creative Lead, CTO, Product Manager, UI designer, a strong Engineering team, and a growing marketing and data team. Our product roadmap has some big things planned and we need some to oversee the growth of the product and our UX function.

With a view to growing our design team (and company as a whole), this role will grow and develop too. Initially, you will be tasked with reviewing the product and then developing our design systems and processes, ensuring that design is an equal part of our overall product development and working in unison with our Engineering team. This requires someone hands-on enough to UX the existing product and then Senior enough to plan the scale of the product and team, then lead that team in the future. You could already be a Head of UX if you have (and want to use) your hands-on skills.

Requirements

You would be a hands-on UX Lead, maybe Head of UX in a small company or team or a Senior Product Design Lead with experience running large scale projects and at least some experience managing teams, ideally from similar SaaS startup companies. Our product already has a global reach but we have only just scratched the surface on the features we have planned.

You will be tasked with:

  • User research to develop user flows, customer personas
  • Audit our current product and establish pain points, areas for improvement and re-work existing wireframes
  • Establish our Designops and structures around our design systems and pattern libraries
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team so UX - dev - data - marketing all work in harmony to achieve the business goals, not focus on their own priorities/objectives
  • Facilitate research workshops
  • Lead the user-centered design in product sprints
  • Educate the design team and wider business on best practices
  • Through research, find opportunities to broaden the product and features

Experience in similar ground-up design environments will be great as this won't be a case of walking into a large Product or UX design team, being assigned a project and off you go. We need you to help our UX process and team grow and mature. Being a startup, it's really important that you aren't precious about your title and job description, we all do what needs to be done. If the idea of doing everything from deep research to wireframes, prototypes, to stakeholder meetings to documentation doesn't appeal, then we probably aren't meant for each other.

B2C SaaS Product experience is also an advantage, as is working on any product in a similar social media connectivity space and platform integration experience i.e. payment platforms, media streaming, e-commerce etc

The Linktree story…

The Linktree journey begins in 2016, when co-founders Alex, Anthony and Nick were running a digital agency and using Instagram to make announcements about the artists they managed. Created as a side hustle to solve a simple problem, Linktree has well outgrown its roots, with over 5 million users worldwide, 10,000 - 15,000 new signups every day and over 120 million unique views per month. Paired with rapid growth, Linktree has recently garnered much attention in the tech world, earning 4th place on Fast Company's "10 most innovative social media companies of 2020".

The Linktree audience is broad, spanning publications, artists, celebrities, fashion and beauty influencers, YouTube stars, sports teams and household brands, right the way through to individuals with a side hustle and micro-influencers. Linktree subscribers include Alicia Keys, Selena Gomez, Pharrell, Jamie Oliver, Vice, Red Bull, Adult Swim, Patreon, Naomi Campbell, Comedy Central, Gordon Ramsay, Billabong…and many more!

This is a full-time role based out of our office in Collingwood, although all working remotely during Covid and we are great with flexible working arrangements. Some of our Engineering teams are already fully remote although we do find design much easier to do in person.
