We're looking for a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to lead the continued development and improvement of our systems, infrastructure and Engineering culture.


What you will own:

As a senior technical leader, you will make contributions to Linktree's Product Leadership Team, a cross-functional collective of leaders from our various Product & Engineering functions that work together to realise our Product Strategy. You will join the ranks of several technical councils that drive Linktree's continued growth and success, and you will be an integral part of Linktree's Engineering Leadership Team, working alongside our most senior technical contributors - our best and brightest - to produce both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs that solve our hardest problems in simple and innovative ways.

You will be accountable for the development of, and outcomes relating to strategies, systems and processes that amount to an Engineering culture that values metrics and User Experience above all else.

  • Create and lead innovative programs, software, and analytics that drive improvements to the availability, scalability, efficiency, and latency of Linktree systems
  • Work in close partnership with product leads across multiple areas, on technologies across Linktree's entire stack to build fast, reliable and durable production systems
  • Work in tandem with the other Engineering Leaders to define and execute technical strategy and arbitrate technical processes and decisions
  • Build and maintain expertise with SRE and a culture that proactively supports the SRE needs of internal customers
  • Work closely with our senior Product & Engineering leaders to ensure wide adoption and support of SRE standards and best practices
  • Evaluate and propose new technologies and technology partnerships; contribute to new and ongoing build vs. buy analyses and decisions
  • Review and provide feedback on product documentation, release notes, integration specifications, architectural assets
  • Lead and grow a team of talented Site Reliability Engineers

We are a global, diverse group across age, gender, and race and offer a truly flexible and family friendly work environment. Kids, pets and the occasional delivery person are all actively encouraged to appear on our Zoom screens. All of us at Linktree work either fully remote or a hybrid "remote and in-office sometimes" approach and that will continue even when COVID is behind us.

We currently have offices in Melbourne, Sydney with LA coming next but our team is spread across Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, USA, Canada, Ireland and Nigeria.

Being globally distributed doesn't mean working to one time-zone and we offer autonomy and flexibility in how you structure your days and weeks. There will be the need for some collaboration outside of a "normal" 9-5 being a global company but we aim to work asynchronously where possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 10+ years of knowledge of emerging platforms, operating system principles, and programming best practices
  • Experience leading and implementing engineering projects at an executive level within distributed global organisations.
  • Experience with large-scale system design, algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design.
  • Experience working with automation in critical production environments, ensuring their reliability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical leadership
